March 11 is the fifth anniversary of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan.
To commemorate the disaster and raise much-needed funds for the Taylor Anderson Memorial Fund, Big Bento Lunch encourages people to get together for a Japanese-style lunch and collect donations.
Get your colleagues, family, friends or school together and host a bento lunch between March 1 and 31.
Last year, Big Bento Lunch raised more than $2000 Playground of Hope, in 2013 raised $7000 for the Save Minamisoma Project, and in 2012 raised more than $15,000 for UNICEF’s work supporting children in the affected regions of Tohoku.
The initiative is proudly organised by JETAA Vic/Tas/SA, with support from the Consulate-General of Japan, Melbourne.

Now a thank you from our President, Emma Libbis:
“JETAA Vic/Tas/SA would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Big Bento Lunch. Your involvement has helped raised over $2000 for Playground of Hope. We had a number of groups enthusiastically participate this year, from school groups to office workers. The money raised will be used towards building a playground that will brighten the lives of disadvantaged children in Tohoku. Thanks again for supporting this cause, and we look forward to your participation in next year’s Big Bento Lunch!”
THANK YOU – 本当にありがとうございました and a big お疲れさまでした to you all!
